{ Tampa Mommy and Me Session }
After tons and tons of beach sessions lately, I’ve been craving something different. Something “not me.” I have honestly had this session dreamed up in my head for the past year but wasn’t sure how to go about setting it up. I shoot my own girls swimming underwater in our pool from time to time and have always thought it would make such a cool addition to my beach sessions. But you know what? I was scared. I didn’t want to disappoint clients with something they hadn’t envisioned so I never went for it.
I read an article The Art of the Free Session by Laura Harrey and instantly a fire lit inside of me. I put out a model call that same day. Yep. A FREE SESSION! How could I have someone pay for a session when I was going to be using my underwater gear for the first time at the beach? Not only that, I was craving to create something out of my norm. Something that my clients don’t think of when hiring Dana Nicole Photography to do their beach sessions. I wanted to create something moody, less whimsical and more focused on emotion. I needed to create just for me to fuel my creativity. I even wanted to edit it completely different from my usual vibrant colors. And you know what? I GOT EXACTLY WHAT I HAD ENVISIONED! Now I’m craving more!
Now that I got my “feet wet” (see what I did there?) using my underwater gear during a session, I’m ready to do more! So I am now presenting to you – a new addition to my beach sessions – an underwater component. Half of the session will be on the shore and the other half will be spent getting in the ocean and trying not to laugh at me as I swim around you with my huge goggles and underwater gear that looks like it belongs in space. Want your own underwater sesh? Email me STAT!
Also – I’d love to know what you think about the session. Does it still look like my work to you? Or if you’ve ever felt something similar to what I have been feeling about trying to create something outside of your comfort zone. Or if you prefer Coke to Pepsi? Or what you like on your tacos? PLEASE LEAVE ME A COMMENT BELOW!

I’ll start – Hi my name is Dana. I was afraid for far too long to create something that I thought was outside of the box I feel like people put me in. I prefer Coke and as for my tacos – lettuce, tomato, guacamole, and EXTRA ONIONS. Yes, extra.
I think this may be your best work yet! Your talent shows and you have truly diversified yourself. Can’t wait to do one with you (and I will have to laugh at your big goggles)! I LOVE Coke but have been trying not to drink as much. You can put whatever on my tacos (except jalapeños) and I will devour them.
Thank you!! I’d love to do an underwater session with you but I’m pretty sure you’d be hysterically laughing at me. And yes. Hold the jalapeños. And give me extra onions.
